For Women by Women - Deferred Tuition Fee Bootcamp

“For Women by Women, our not-for-profit organization, aims to equalize disparity in India, a country where women have fewer rights than men.”

The proposed solution is to create an ecosystem, dependent on a network of constitutive partners, in which women motivate each other. It consists of four stages. The first step is to encourage girls in high school to pursue careers in STEM by finding inspiration from women who already work in the field serving as role models. They subsequently have the chance to participate in free programming workshops. After these, if they qualify, they have the opportunity to participate in a deferred tuition fee programming bootcamp. Our organization would additionally partner with blue-chip companies willing to hire bootcamp graduates. The unique selling point of “For Women by Women” is that women only pay for bootcamps after they graduate and receive a regular income from their employment in one of our partnering blue-chip companies. This enables them to self-finance their education and pursue their career independent of their financial and social background, which is particularly important in a country where parents are often unable to finance education for all children and where there is considerable preference to educate boys. Furthermore, women who pursue a career in STEM are able to become role models for girls in schools. The key to this idea is the community aspect, which allows females participating in the various stages of the project to inspire and motivate each other, overcoming gender stereotypes.
